recessed cleat

why did bcb put a recessed cleat in front of the gear shifter on the side below the dash on a 2007 pantera iv. better yet what can i use it for?

Dockside tie when at a marina? I think. Not for anchoring. More for short stay, like picking up fuel or tying up to dock when getting trailer to/from water.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

A lot of people side up to the dock and tie off without leaving the drivers seat. Great idea.

Yep as others have said. I have a rope tied to it, that never comes off the cleat and store it in the mesh holder next to the hot foot. Never have to get up and out of the seat to tie off to a dock. I Love that cleat for this purpose.

Yep I use it for the same purpose, you should have one on the passenger side as well.

Get in a lock solo and try to tie up somewhere other than the middle of your boat…. Your rub rail will not love you! Not to mention those fancy blacklights…C.O.D. Jr. III

Whenever I tied off my old Cougar to the dock…I used that cleat. It is very useful!

catman 1, That is a surprising question! That was one of the first results of input from the JD Power and Associates study. It was a high problem issue in the scoring of the top 25 things people did not like about their bass boats. In that first meeting with the JD Power and going over the data on JD Power and Associates, it became apparent we could learn plenty. Of the owners of other brands of boats, one of the largest complaints was cleat location when tying up at the dock. Of Bass Cat owner their complaint was that they did not like using the handrails when tying up to the dock. So the cleat was the first solution we saw from the study. It was fixed right then and there, and went to the shop floor that afternoon. So you asked for it and you got it is the answer. BCB

The cleat is so great! In fact, before I owned my Cat, I had a Triton. I saw the cleat on a Cat I was admiring at a local boat show a couple of years ago, and went that day to put one on my old Triton. When approaching the dock, and if you fish by yourself alot as I do, it is as handy as a pocket on a shirt. I love the one on the passenger side too. Keep up the great ideas BCB!!!!

i knew it had to be a good reason or bcb wouldnt have installed it. thanks everbody. i like jslaw idea. store the rope in the mesh area. thanks.
