BCB,I was wondering what the recommended epoxy is for a thru-hull transducer mount? Im about to install a new HDS-8 Gen2 and I have to mount the standard sonar transducer for the unit and prefer to install it in the thru-hull fashion. Anyone else out there that has performed a similar install and has input please feel free to chime in as well, in case what they carry in local stores varies from what BCB uses.Thanks in advance for everyones help!AW

24 hour clear epoxy, not the 5 minute fast set as those absorb moisture.

You should get the epoxy with the TD.

Thanks BCB. Is that just a standard plumbing expoxy I can find at the hardware store or will it need to come from a marine specialty store? @basscatpuma3 – Nothing along the lines of expoxy or wire cover plates came with the unit. Needless to say I was a little disappointed by this….. Ive purchased $150 HB units in the past that came with more mounting accessories than the $2K HDS did……

Yea they should of had some epoxy with it, maybe you can contact them an they might send you some at no cost since you spent all that money.

You would think……. I just ran down to local hardware store and picked up some Loctite brand Extra Time Epoxy for like $4….. Says it requires 24 hrs for full set-up so hopefully this does the job….. Thanks again BCB!!

DO NOT USE THE TRANSDUCER EPOXY THAT COMES WITH THE PUCKS. This is a 5 minute epoxy and softens with moisture exposure in time. BCB

We use a fiberglass compound and no epoxy, though 24 hour epoxy works fine.

BCB does that go for HB Pucks also.
