Thinking about fishing a Media championship first of October.Red River never been there just thinking about a good trip on a scale of 1-10 as a bass fisherman i prolly a 4 lol but i enjoy fishing turnies and beside if guys like me didnt fish the rest of you wouldnt have anything to win.My ? i would only get to prefish friday, is it pretty tough to catch bass there and to locate anything,would someone that has never been there have a tough time just getting around?

Lots of back water to fish but is some very good fishing once you learn it. I go once a year and love it although I grew up fishing stuff pretty much like it. Will be down there in Oct. for a friendly get together with a bunch of other folks on this board. Good Luck

You apparently should fill up with gas and go upriver until the first tank is gone before you start fishing ! The BASS W/E series regionals are there the third weekend in Oct. , and that is what well be facing,,,long runs and lots of company ! Good luck, D.

96 PANTERA II 50 gallons 150hp run a whooooping 58mph wit just my little self in der. Got gps so shouldnt get lost. turny first weeked of oct. I like throughing crank baits–but can flip all day and be happy.Been fishing along time only managed 2 checks keep telling myself it only takes 5 cast.

oh yeah and I dont mind beaten cottonmouths off the boat crashing throught the ruogh stuff to get back in de woods to fish

Gotta go where the fish are! No reason to be scared. Practice with your wells full and drive like youll drive on tournament day. Know all the lockmasters phone numbers and where any marinas are where you can get more gas. Extra prop and what it takes to get it fixed- board, hub, wrench. Phone number of any buddies fishin the same pool if you cant get back. Carry an extra weigh in bag to transfer your fish in addition to floats. Not sure how far Ds boat will go (further than mine) but I wouldnt hesitate to run 60-80 one way if I had to. Heck if you can get more gas Id go further. We run 30-40 all the time at Dardanelle one way. Heck you got to. One of the great local river fishermen here has been running 50-60 one way for the 3 wins this year already in his puma.C.O.D. Dad, Im also qualified to fish Media. Not going this year. I will get back with you via pm. Im sure others will help also. Just knowing your capable of a long run is great. Lock up to pool 3 and fish Grand Ecore area, rock wing dams are great cranking areas, fish any small lakes off river in that area. some pretty good size lakes in that area, also.Last edited by SAMRUSH on August 27th, 2009, 4:07 pm, edited 2 times in total.BAYOU BANDIT
