Removing a transducer

I have removed my Lowrance 332C and installed a HB 998c in the dash of my PIV. I had no particular difficulty removing the temp probe cable and installing the 998c transducer cable. The 332c Transducer cable, however, does not want to come out. I am afraid to pull too hard for fear of damaging the cable. Has any one had experience with this? Is there some trick to the procedure?As long as I am here, I will ask a dumb question: Can the 332C transducer be used with the 998c?thanksJWT

They are the same khz, though not the same pigtail plug.

can you tell me if your riggers secure the cable in any way inside the raceway from the front to back? Feels like it is connected solid to somethingthanksJWTPS:Thanks to parts for getting me the bezal kit I needed for the 998C the next day

There is no rigging wire for pulling. The best option is to remove the cowl vent and we had an individual use a piece of small CPVC pipe that went front to rear easily. We use a hard wire here and we handle that fine. Though it is difficult if you are not used to the running of wires. BCB

ThanksI was able to pull the temp wire with no problem; pulled a heavy piece of monofilament behind it which I used to pull the new transducer cable. Pulled the old GPS cable out of the rear vent the same way. None of these wires offered much resistance to pulling. the 332c transducer cable, however is not budging, like it is hung on something. Do you think a split piece of CPVC pushed from the rear vent might free it up?jw

Doubt it, though you can try. It is probably wither tied in the loom, or hung under the rear corner of the deck.

I would just abandon it my friend……no telling what youd get into on this one. Quite a number of wires running down the side.

Well:You win some and loose some. Found out that the cable was wedged between the raceway down the side of the boat and the inner structure. Once I freed it it came right out. Busted the transducer, however getting it loose. Needed the space for the second 998c transducer.jwt

Glad you got the wire free, sorry you busted the transducer case after that. So you have a 1 – 1 record on 1 part. BCB
