Im curious on the best way to remove the fenders, specifically how to get them to break free from urethane? Also, what urethane should I use when reinstalling? I assume I can find it locally. I will be adding/welding the support brackets on my 00 trailer to support the new style fenders. Im hoping the front and rear supports match up w/out any modifications required. Any insight or tips on fender replacement is appreciated. Thanks.

The factory uses an acetylene torch or butane torch to soften that urethane. Then they pull off fairly easy. Of course loosen them first! The urethane is available at most automotive glass or body supply shops. It is in a caulk gun style dispenser. use large Vise or C Clamps to lock the fender in place for about 8 to 10 hours till is cures. The mixes are different, so ask on time. You shouldnt have any issues. BCB

Thanks for the prompt reply. One more quick question though. I know the urethane goes on the support braces supporting the fender steps, but does it also go the full length of the fender against the trailer? Thanks again.

We dont use it against the trailer frame, just the top plates. The frame has bolt access and the heads are hidden. The steps are because we dont want the aesthetics of a fastener or issues with one in the tread material. Just a cleaner look.

I did this last year and found the propane torch worked well. I kept pressure on the fender by using a jack under the fender so when the adhesive started to loosen the fender lifted up. I used a urethane adhesive I bought at Lowes when placing the new fender.
