removing tranducer

What is the correct procedure for removing the epoxy on a failed tth transducer that is located in the bilge? thnx mark

If the transducer was bad I would probably take a screwdriver or chisel and hit it with a hammer up against the transducer. If it was good I would probably use a rubber mallet and not hit it as hard. Then sand with an air powered grinder type the expoxy off the hull and remount the new transducer…it always makes me pucker a bit when using that air grinder in the bilge though Good luck. judd

I asked BC about this a few days ago and they said the pain and hassle is generally not worth it and they recommended just installing the new next to the old one and leave it in there.

thats what i was going to do but I already have the flasher trans down there and the bilge pump , man it looks crowded lol mark

Knock it out with a chisel, or from the side with a block of wood and a large hammer. Focus the area so that you dont disturb something else. Doing more damage is not good if you miss. The area below may need drying and a bit of sanding to clean up before applying a new one down there. BCB
