I have a 2001 Pantera Classic and my wife surprised me with bucket seats for my 40th birthday (man I love her) and I should be getting them any day now. I have read every post I could find concerning removing the old bench seats but have a couple of questions for those who have removed theirs. 1) Are the screws in the lower part of the back rest the only things you have to pull to remove them or are their rivets hiding somewhere? I know of the rivets that are used for the center seat back rest but I cant see anymore than them? 2) How many screws per cushion are used? 3) Do I need rivets to install the new bucket seats? If so can I get some from BCBs? 4) Do the original hinges on my boat work with the new buckets? If not, can I buy them from BCB? Anything else I should be aware of before I tackle this project. I plan on taking pictures of the whole process to be able to show others how to do it and I will post pictures. Lastly, if I can get the benches off without any damage I plan on selling them. They are light grey with dark grey and black strips in close to perfect condition and no rips at all and will also be selling a matching butt seat so please get in contact with me if you are interested.Last edited by TexCaboCat on March 16th, 2009, 2:13 pm, edited 1 time in total.God Bless, Stephen
You can probe in there and find those screws and remove the backs with caution. It will take an extra few minutes to find the screws, and once you have the angle with a probe you can find the head with a bit and slowly back out the screws, which we would do by hand. There are only the end arms piece, lower back two screws and center two screws, plus the upper angle holding those backs in place.
Let me know how much you will want for your seats,I need a good replacement for my Pantera. E-mail me at jhuddleston@hotmail.com
Congrats on your new seats. I posted some how to pics on BBC if you do a search. The seats will come w/ everything you need (no need to recycle hinges). The seats will be held in place by two screws in the front of the base (one through each hinge) and one through the back brace. The center stop box will be secured w/ rivets provide. You will have to drill new holes for the screwa and rivets (at least I did). Good luck and pm if you need additional info. Richard
I forgot. Shipping out your old seats are expensive. Make sure you factor that in when you sell them.Last edited by rlb8s on March 16th, 2009, 11:53 pm, edited 1 time in total.

A while back I posted some fairly detailed pictures of the bucket seat upgrade here on this site. You may be able to search and find it. The install is very simple and only requires a little patients and detail to get it right. Just remember, once you remove your old seats, set all of your new seats in place and center all of them together before drilling any new holes. Dont try to just center one at a time over your current openings. This will not work. Put them all in place first, then center, then drill for mounting your hinges. My email is coupel21@yahoo.com if you have any questions. I would be glad to answer for you. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Make sure you center them on the underseat storage. You will see what I am talking about when you get your seats. You will want to center the base around the storage to ge maximum protection from water intrusion. My jag required a narrower center box to accommodate the storage. Adjusting the install to fit the original step box would have left large gaps for water intrusion. The above doesnt apply for those w/out underseat storage; simply line them up and secure in place.Last edited by rlb8s on March 17th, 2009, 9:37 am, edited 1 time in total.
Hey Chris, when you get your next couple of days off, go over to Texas and give the man a hand, am sure he would be glad to take you out on fork to try and catch a few. pant 2 Bob
