Replacing Bunks

I need to know what size boards do I need to buy. I think its 2x8x10 but then again I looked at it and it look like maybe 2x6x10…I know I have to shave some off and all that good stuff. They are 2×6 treated, with a 5/8 ” trim off the boards. They are not a full 2 x 6 and a full 2x will not fit in between the chines on the hull. BCB

Thanks couldnt find anything in the search box. May consider adding this to the FAQ section. Got my carpet and bolts just need to go get the wood in the morning. Thanks again..

OK, The bunks are trimmed 2 x 6 treated material. They are chamferred red on the rear with a 45 degree cut to allow less pressure on the rear of the board. The front end is trimmed and rolled in to create a wedge effect on the front of the trailer, just for cosmetics. Drop your rig in the water at a local marina for 24 hours and reproduce what you have. Easier to get them at home and have them carpeted, unless you can pick them up off a truck at a dealership. Freight is killer on big items to non commercial accounts. BCB

I took 2 of the bunks off and everything I read said to staple the new carpet. Now when I took the bunks off I noticed the carpet had an piece of thin carpet on the top that was glued to the top of the bunks, and the main carpet was glued to the sides and bottom then staples on the bottom. Do I have to follow that procedure to the new bunks. Also I got to say that this is the toughest, strongest carpet I have ever seen. The bolts were rusted through bunks stayed on due to the strong carpet. Also the wood had no rot at all. If the bolts would of lasted longer the bunks would of lasted forever. Thanks

BCB bunks are double padded on top, with glue on top and also down the sides, then the underside is stapled with stainless staples. BCB
