02 sabre needs hydraulic lid shocks replaced. tried to remove one with socket but nut just spins. how do you remove the old ones, and how do i figure the correct size to order replacements ?

You can get the correct size needed from BCB. Give them a call and let them know which you are replacing. There should be a metal clasp that either slides up, down, or out (dont remember without looking). Then the end connector of the “shock” pulls off.

If u find out. Let me know. I have a 2001 and have been wanting to replace mine too. I had my buddy whos a boat mechanic remove them. Im just wondering what size we might need.

You use a Screwdriver to slp the spring tensioner of the ball socket, then slip the new one on the same way and slip the tensioner in place.

Yes, the spring does just slide back as mentioned without full removal.

assume the sabre rod locker shocks are the “SHORT” version

Order a extra one, when I did mine the first shock ended up being a guinea pig. A very small flat head screw driver worked best for me.
