Cant seem to find another way around it, just too cramped to go through the bilge area without unscrewing the gas tank and sliding out of the way…Has anyone done this? How hard is the work?Best Fishes,Thanks.TT
Im guessing because mine is an 08 but my guess is you unplug the 2 leads going to the cartridge and press the release on the side of the housing and turn the cartridge a bit and it will slide out, there may not be much room but I would be willing to bet there is enough to get the cartridge to come out.. make sure you are not trying to remove the housing just the cartridge.. a picture might help as well.. Good luck
I have a 2000 Cougar and my pump out is located on the bottom left of my livewell, the hoses run behind my gas tank which would be easy to access by removing my vent cap.
We do not remove the tank on Cougar models here. We work under the tank. The extra time required to work under the tank is way less than the labor to remove and replace components. We replace the valve pump and valves working underneath also, we do loosen the tank brackets and slide it some.
Many thanks for your comments… Yes, today I wish I had the two tank option… Think I will hire a small kid from the neighborhood to go under there ;-)Best
