Need to replace the roller on my trailer. I see BassCat has one you can buy. Is the roller used on the trailer specific to BassCat trailers and thus I should order it or can I buy a generic roller locally that is the same?Also (and please excuse me while I flash my ignorance), but I assume the easiest way to replace it is to launch boat, remove bolt, take off old roller, put on new roller, tighten bolt, go fishing and then go home. Correct?Thanks in advance!!

These are just a measure, 3″-4″-5″- x X” and etc., and not proprietary. The simplest way to do this is to jack up the bow and stick the new one in.Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on November 16th, 2011, 7:44 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Replace it while the boat is on the trailer. I made the mistake of trailering the boat “one more time” to the lake. After I launched the boat i realized that the boat had torn all the way through the roller and bounced on the bolt all the way to the lake taking out several chunks of fiberglass along the way. Sucked man!

Whats the best way to jack up the boat while on the trailer?

I use a 3 ton floor jack with a piece of 1×12 about 18″ long, covered with carpet. I put it on the jack as it is raised up to the bottom of the boat; it gives a better service rather than just the jack. I place it just in front running pad before it starts to make the V heading up to the bow. I jack it up just enough for the bow to lift off the front roller. Once the roller is in place, just let her drop very slowly back in place. Be sure to have it hooked up to the tow vehicle. This will help to keep the trailer from tilting upward when the weight ships a little to the rear. I have done this a couple of times, and it works pretty well.

You can also use a 2X6. Just cut a V in top , cut to proper length. Place a towel or cloth over V. Slide board under the boat and lower trailer jack until bow roller is clear to work on.
