Repowering 08 Puma

I have a 08 Puma with a 05 Merc Optimax 225HP, smartcraft guages, and I am thinking about the possibility of repowering the boat with a new (er) motor that will be warrantied; Am I limited by the boat( other than horsepower rating) as to what Mercurys I can run for my set-up? For instance if I switched to a 4-stroke? Or a new Pro XS? And where are there good deals in making this move in the northeast? Anyone know what the motor might be worth retail in this situation? Thank you in advance.

We used to do work for the Mercury Remanufacturing division. They used to have REALLY good deals on refurbished outboards. Not sure if they still do this but they come with a warranty and you cannot beat the price.
