This past weekend the Annual Kids Unlimited Foundation Bass Tournament was held on Fayette County Lake near LaGrange, Texas. A number of the local Bass Cat Boys make this an annual event taking kids, under treatment for some sort of cancer, fishing for a half day team bass tournament, i.e. one child and one fisherman making up the team. While the event went smoothly and all the kids had a great time, apparently, Jimmy Rozell fealt that a demonstration of the new boarding ladder on the 08 Pumas was needed. Unforntunately for Jimmy, the camera boat, taking pictures of the kids catching and showing their fish, was right behind him when he elected to physically demonstrate how one should use this newly added device. During my investigation of the incident, Mr. Rozell indicated he was trying to lip a big fish while squating down on the front deck. I asked him if he had ever thought about getting down on one or both knees to keep his center of gravity from being out over the edge of the boat. His reply was some what negative and colorful I must admit. I guess Jimmy will have to catch a few more big fish (those a little bigger than he can swing into the boat) in order to hone his mechanics in fish handling. Mean while, thank goodness for the new boarding ladder. It is obvious the ladder has a heavy weight rating. This thread is not ended as we await the delivery of pictures from those who were present. Reporting from the scene, Bass Cat Charlie. Last edited by Charlie Hammack on November 8th, 2007, 5:44 am, edited 1 time in total.
Was fishing on Fayette this weekend though not in the tournament and met several fellow Bass Cat owners and sales representatives from Big D Outdoors Marine who were at the tournament. The enthusiasm displayed by the guys couldnt help but rub off on all the young kids that were there. I would like to give these. folks a heart felt thanks for being there for the kids. Guess the sudden increase in wave action we felt must have been when Jimmy decided to test the new boarding ladder.Last edited by bgibson53 on October 30th, 2007, 6:08 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Youre right Charlie……………………if Jimmy caught more big fish or just caught more fish period he would probably learn a little about landing them! I heard it wasnt even a big fish. I heard it might have been a 2 lber.
I saw the whole incident unfold. jimmy told me he didnt believe the images from his new hummingbird so he decided to get out of the boat and check for himself. i thought we were never going to get him back in the boat. glad basscat is using those new ladders.
bgibson53, Does Sunomi come to mind?? Checking the reference books under Sunomi you will find a pictrue of Rozell hitting the water and the associated after effects.Jerimy, something is amiss here, Jimmy tellls me one story about lipping a fish (to trying to lip one), he was accused of scuba diving in an effort to find fish and now you are telling me he was wanting to verify his sonar equipment. Multiple stories for the same event ….. Typical Rozell.
HEY PHIL, THE REASON JIMMY THOUGHT THE BASS WAS BIGGER THAN TWO POUNDS WAS BECAUSE HE WAS LOOKING AT IT UNDER WATER. IT IS KINDA LIKE THE GUY THAT BRINGS 9 POUNDS OF BASS TO THE SCALES WITH 20 POUNDS OF WATER AND EVERYONE THINKS HE HAS A BIG BAG. I GUESS WATER MAGNIFIES EVERYTHING
Jeremy get my wet butt out of the water!……………………………………..Yes sir BOSS! Last edited by PhilAddison on November 8th, 2007, 4:23 am, edited 1 time in total.
The kid in the boat looks much less concerned than the ones in Jeremys boat Glad no one was hurt, well except a little pride maybe. Yall did a good thing…maybe next year I can make it down, that is a great cause! Kewl lake too, I fished it last year on the way to Amistad for a half day. Judd Lasiter
The kid in the back is probably saying, “Ive heard it all…………now Ive seen it all!”
Jim Bo said all she did was look at him and laugh ! ! ! Be willing to bet that is what JM is doing in the picture as well. While all this was happening I was maybe 100 yds away with my back to him ….. Didnt HEAR A THING ….. Just thought some LARGE BOAT WAKE was coming in …. Dadburnit, missed the whole thing, glad the camera boat was near by. You cant run from this one Rozell …. the picture has you nailed. Did anyone see a BIG FISH??? Looks like the only thing BIG coming out of the water is wearing a Yellow and Black Jacket.
