03 EFI on a classic, Just had the water pump replaced and new plugs installed. I raised the engine 1/4 above flush from even, and now it has a hard time getting to 5100rpms. Water pressure is around 15 to 16 psi wot. I just dont see how bringing the motor up makes rpm go down. Anyone have any ideas? Oh, and Im running a 25p tempest plus with two plugs removed.

Sounds like you may have knocked a plug wire off the engine when you replaced a cowling? Something is wrong and the engine height is not the issue. BCB

Plug wires, bad spark plug.

I just checked the plug wires and were all on. I also didnt see any cracks in the plugs and they are the same part number as the old ones. Only thing I guess I need the do is remove the plugs and check the gap. What is the gap suppose to be at? Thanks

It sounds like you did more than just a water pump and if so back track your steps. Check the coil wires and all connections. It could be a faulty plug and you may be able to find it by pulling a plug wire while idling the engine.
