I use 3m Clear Bra in the splash well to prevent the loom from chafing the gel in there. I also use it in other places to protect the gel, for example, up front on the gunnels where my reels make contact. I got it from a place that installs it on automobiles, but I think you can buy it online.

For the front end , Orschelns has non-skid strips that you can cut to fit anywhere . — They are 6 x 12 inches I believe . — I put them on my Classic in strategic spots 4 years ago , and they still look and work like new . — Very inexpensive , and they have saved me from getting wet more than once . — I installed them after I found out if you have your 101 lb. thrust T/M turned up and turned when you hit the button , you only get 2 steps and the second one is wet !! — Hoss

On the front, the skat board antis-skid material works great and you can get designs. I cut one piece for the front step area that works great and another for in front of the passenger seat for a foot rest. As far as the splash well, I just keep the polish to it. Its 8 years old, its going to have scratches here and there from one end of the boat to the other. At least if you are fishing and not running. No one (but us owners) ever notices the splash well. Enjoy your boat and fish the hell out of it. Thats what its designed for. Dont sweat the bumps and bruises. They can usually be buffed out anyway.You can see part of the step I added here.
