I have a Lowrance X-51 and bought the temp prob for it. All is working well but I have to ask if there is an easy way to run the probe from the console to the transom? I have looked at it and was wondering if there was a easy way to run the probe to the transom or if I was going to wing it with a wire fish and hope for the best. Two people as Brian mentioned helps a bunch. I personally prefer to run from the console back because it is easier to find the fish tape in the bilge area then it is the access hole under the console. I have also sometimes ran a piece of rope at the same time then tie it off on both ends so next time you can use the rope instead of having to “fish” the tape. Good luck, not a big deal at all. You can also remove the rear vent on the drivers side for a better view. Judd Lasiter Edit – dont forget to wear long sleeves to keep your arms from itching for a couple days and mechanics gloves arent a bad idea either. That glass drives me insane!

You can go through the seat area on a belly tank model, or remove the cowl vent and use that to thread it through the gunnel. We do it with one person here, though experience does help. If you have to remove the seat box and go through there it is a last resort. BCB

Ive had to replace three tranducers on my PII, dont ask why anyway the real key is REMOVE THE CROME COWL VENT and its no big deal with a tape if you go through the cowl vent hole forward you can do it yourself, it makes life so much easier.

Removing the chrome cowling vent was the trick. I then used a standard 1 inch wide tape measure and run it from the vent hole to the console and grabbed it through the access hole. Pulled it back through and mounted the transducer with some silicon. Whole job took about 45 minutes with one person. Thank for the tips ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
