Rust on Brackets for the trailer bunks

I was checking out my trailer prior to a trip to Sam Rayburn this weekend and noticed the Brackets and lag screws are starting to rust on my 2013 trailer.What is the best fix and prevent from happening?it appears that the lag bolts and washers are galvanized and I can switch those out with stainless steel, but what to do about the bracket other than clean with wire brush, prime and repaint.would like suggestions on primer and paint (From BCB?) to match the trailer (available in aerosol cans?).will the bunks need to be removed to properly fix?thanks,thanks

This will be on 98% if not more of all painted trailors. Problem being they stay wet a majority of the time. When I unhook I jack mine up high allowing the water to run to the back of the trailer. I even got to where I dry vac my boards on the sides and bottom to speed the drying process ( I know. “CRAZY”). You can slow the rusting process by wire brushing and priming and paint. The only problem is IT WILL COME BACK. a nice upgrade I wish BCB would do Id make those L brackets out of stainless steel. Weldable with 309. This upgrade would be worth every penny it would cost. When I replace my boards in a couple yrs Ive decided in gonna replace my L brackets with stainless. And on the welds throughout the trailer on my 2010. Galvanized trailers do cost a bit more are not as pretty but they look the same as new for decades.Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO

I got the aluminum trailer the BCB offers for a little more money. I have had three cats and the aluminum trailer looks just as nice as the painted trailers and is built like a tank. Ace hardware sells a product that kills the rust as long as it is primarily surface rust.

I just put new carpet on my bunks yesterday, 1993 Basscat trailer, brackets were rusty as all get out but still solid.

Get some silver Por15 and replace the lag bolts and washers with stainless.

I plan on replacing the Lag screws and washers with stainless, but What is silverYou would think with the bracket facing down that they would dry off first and not rust like this.Maybe not enough primer and /or paint is on the Brackets for it to rust like that. Ive only had the boat for 2 years now

http://www.por15.com/I have a 4X6 trailer that I painted with Por15 in the late 80s. It has been outside for 30 years and still has not rusted.

The rust starts in the bolt holes where either the paint is thin or the lag bolt chips the paint and exposes the bare steel.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
