does anyone run one with the envinrude 150 h.o. ?? can you tell what kind of speed your getting?? Also how is it on fuel ?? thank you slimm
There will be a few on here to give you customer info soon, though check the latest BassMaster magazine in this months issue. This test was done without our intervention and it is a true unbiased test. HO series engines are a little thirstier than other brands, though not by much on this size. BCB
slimm, I have an 08 Sabre FTD with the Etec on it. This boat is incredible, I just got back from a trip last weekend. I wasnt running much distance as I had two little ones in the boat but speed wise I was seeing 62 with full tank of gas and full tx load.(kids werent in the boat, they got scared at about 35) With a little less gas in it and some more seat time I would think that I will be running close to 65ish. If you are in the market for a Sabre FTD with Etec I know a dealer in Wisc. that has one at a great price. I have a couple of pics of it if you are interested. Anymore info you can email at ]
thanks for your reply!! Where at in Wis. I live 45miles sw of chicago in Indiana.. thanks slimm. ]
Slimm, if you live that close to Wabash IN, you should at least consider giving Sherm a call. http://www.shermsmarine.com. He is a Merc guy, but me, along with everyone youll likely ever speak with will RAVE about his service before, during, and most important after the sale.
Slimm, Just got off the water today and was trying to push my Etec a bit per some helpful suggestion from JohnM17. I have a 2008 BassCat Sabre with Etec150HO. My Jackplate is 3/8″ above level (came from basscat that way). My fastest speed to date has been 65.1. Today I hit 64.5 on my boat. My livewells were empty with a 1/2 tank of gas. Trim gauge set at just above level. Personally, If I can improve my driving I think I can hit 66mph. Dealer says faster but I think that is all I could hit. I am very satisfied with my results. When I got home I did raise my motor per JohnMs helpful suggestions. Will play around with this and report later with my results. Also, I have to refocus and tell myself my boat is a bass boat and not a silver bullet (grin). Motor is extremely quiet. I know Evinrude says go out and run the heck of the motor but I would not recommend WOT for at least 5-10 hours on the motor. Also, I would add second fuel filter for cautionary benefits from todays ethanol additives. Hope this helps. MISR
I did calculate MPG about 4-6 weeks ago. Running at 3500 RPMs I got 5.2 MPG. I just read in November2008 issue of BassMaster article and they had specs on BassCat Sabre with regular 150Etec. Their findings got between 4.5 to 5mph running 2500 to 5300 rpms. misr12
Look at you go Misr with the 64 and 65 MPH speeds Just keep an eye on your water pressure as you come up on the JP , especially in corners. 65 was what Bassmasters got out of the boat with 10 gallons of gas, livewells empty, no tackle. Not all motors are created equal, if you have a “hot one” indeed you may hit 66, Id be thrilled with a consistant 64 out of ANY 18 150 combo with all the tackle I carry!!! You keep after it and by next year youll be hanging right there with crazy Kelly and I at WOT in that medium chop with full confidence in your skills. Making yer passenger trust you is all on yours LOL.
John, I dont think so….. Of course cooler temps mean faster speeds…. Yep, I am thrilled at my setup and speed. Anxious to get out with my new setup. However at 64 plus I feel like I am on a balancing high wire. I bet youll do 68 on your setup… Keep us posted. misr12
thanks fellas for the info!!!!! slimm
