Guys – I am not a big fan of the rod tubes in my 09 Sabre FTD; one in particular keeps breaking the key tips off the rod. I removed the screws on the top side just under the lid but the tubes will not budge. Is there some way to remove the tube end or is it glassed in?

BamaCat – I have removed the rod tubes in my last two Bass Cats. First a P4, now a Sabre. Just pull the two screws from the topside and the entire tube holder should wiggle loose. I use BPS rod socks on all of my rods and seem to be able to fit more rods in the box and they are well protected. I keep 15 – 16 rods (up to 76″) in my Sabre locker – both spinning and casting. I know most guys love the tubes, but this works best for me. Just one mans opinion. BTW – I have found NO other 18 boat out there that will hold a full 76″ rod. Thank You Bass Cat! Love my Sabre!

http://www.stickjacket.com/Web/Home.phpand color coding, to boot!ps.. i still wish theyd carpet the hull all the way to the tip of the bow in the rod lockers. heck…they could use old carpet scraps as far as im concerned, as noone will ever actually see it. i just hate hearing my rod tip scraping the inside of the hull as i slide them into the locker. +1 on the Stickjackets, I thought it was only me breaking rod tips in the tubes this year, I broke 2 in my PIV, so Ive been using the stickjackets on the rods in the tubes. Mike
