Have a neighbor who is looking at getting a new Sabre. He was wanting a dual axle but has a smaller tow vehicle and he’s concerned about getting it as light as possible. I was wondering if the 3 inch trailer is available like the P2 SP has? Figured I’d ask before I told him it was an option.
Why not just get a regular single axle trailer. I would not think that the weight difference would be that much. The big thing is to get brakes on the trailer. Pulling may not be a problem but stopping could be. Loading and unloading the boat on wet ramps or the HWY could post a problem. I pull my Saber FTD with a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4 but it has a 360 in it. No problem here. John
We have this 2020 Sabre FTD in stock. Let me know if you might be interested in it. It is on the 4″ tandem frame but it doesn’t add that much weight to the package.
I would speculate a duel vs single axle could weight more than 400lbs, the extra steel, two more wheels and tires, larger fenders… Whats his tow vehicle going to be? I used to pull a sabre with a v6 tacoma and it did very well.
I have a 2017 FTD on a single axle trailer. We do pull it on occasion with my wife’s 2016 explorer. It pulls it very well and no issues stopping. The ramps we have used were not steep though, but I have not any concern over launching or loading with her explorer. Hope this helps.
Rockwall Marine and Tommy are great to deal with. I drove from Austin to Rockwall to get my Saber FTD. Set down with Tommy and got the deal done. The Saber FTD is a great fishing boat and will run great. John
It’s a Mazda SUV, I’m not sure on the model. He said AWD and towing capacity was 3500 lbs. He has an older aluminum boat about 17-18 ft now. He started looking at my boat a decided he wanted a Cat.
