Sabre FTD with 150 Opti prop question

Im ordering a new Sabre FTD with Merc Optimax 150. Will this combo turn a 24 Fury or would the 23 Tempest be the better choice? I am not looking for that last mph of speed but rather a good all around performing prop. I would like the Fury prop but not at the expense of having to run the motor high on jackplate, add scoops, etc… Thanks for the help!

I would have to agree with Andy. The 24 Fury would probably be a little much for that combo. How about a 24 trophy? The 24 trophys I have experience with turn more like a 23. I just prefer the overall performance of the trophys over the temptests.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.

I had the 23 Tempist on my Sabre FTD when it had a 150 Opti on her and was pleased with the all around performance. I am running the 24 Fury on my 175 ProXS over the 25 Tempist.If you are going to play with props I agree the Trophy would be my only other choice on the 150.

You folks will notice that none of the BCB staff comments on Sabre propellers often. The main reason is that Sabres have a very wide range of propeller options. They can run a different prop on four matched rigs depending on yourwishes, load and set up.

Bama, when I ordered mine Brannon convinced me to go the route of the 24 Tempest prop even though I have an E-tec.Bama why do you keep deleting your posts??? Now my post make no sense.Last edited by dblplasabre on February 10th, 2010, 1:19 am, edited 1 time in total.

They can run a different prop on four matched rigs depending on yourwishes, load and set up.I noticed when I spoke to Ivan indepth about the “hows” and “whys” BCBs do what they do in respect to a hull and pad most of us coming from another brand need to learn to trust the folks that have had years of experience setting up BASSCAT boats instead of going with what has worked for us in other brands. Sherm and Greens both put the 23 Tempist on a Sabre FTD with a 150 Opti along with several others Im sure. OR you can do like I did and spend lots of money and time playing with props to end up with the same prop they would have set it up with and the jack plate within an 1/8″ of where they would have set it.

My 06 Xabre has a 25 Tempest on it with a 150 Opti. This is what was on it when I purchased it recently. Seems to have a good hole shot. I think the best speed I have gotten was 61, but I have only been out twice in it.
