hey guys. i have a 2007 sabre with a 150 efi on the back. iam thinking of moving up 2 a p2. now is it wrok it or not for the money. how does a p2 compare to a sabre. a couple of things i dont like about my sbre is. wehn therre is a slight chop on the water like 1 to 1.5 feet. the bow will take on water if iam up frount fishing. is this any better on a p2. and is it more stable. for walking around on hte deck. just a few questions i have had. let me know if there is any other advantage over the diffrent boats.
The difference in ride from a P2 and Sabre is worth the money. The wave over the bow is not going to happen until about 3 foot of waves. A Sabre was my first Cat and there are days I wish I still had it for the smaller areas you can access, but once you buy a bigger boat ,you will wonder what took you so long to make up your mind. Anytime you add length, the stability is going to get better, especially with a Cat.

Hope this helpsLast edited by jignpig on January 26th, 2008, 12:52 am, edited 1 time in total.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
There are a couple which have made this change. They hopefully will popbin here and give you an honest experienced comparison. We would consider the new Cougar Advantage Elite model also. BCB
but do u guys know the ruff prices on a p2 or a cougar advantage at all just wondering, iam up in canada, i want to know the price diffrnce between us up hear and you guys,
Youre looking at around 40K for a nicely rigged-out P-2 if you custom order. The 07 P-2s are virtually the same P-2s as 08s, so if it was me, Id look for a 07 leftover — Im sure you could chop at least a few Ks off of the 08s. Theyre great boats!
I went from an 03 Sabre to an 07 PII. The stability is a little better when you are walking around and it does not take water on the front when you are fishing up front and pointing the nose into the waves like you were experiencing. The ride is diffinately better and it is much nicer to fish from. Plenty of storage and room for pretty much anything you want to bring with you. I like the boat much better for tournament fishing and one of the main reasons is, when I really loaded the boat down fishing a tourny and had livewells full with full tank of gas and a parnter it ran a little slower and sluggish. The PII seems to run just as hard loaded down as it does when its empty. Im sure this is because I went from a 150, which is a 2.5 block, to a 200 opti, whcih is a 3.0 block. I love how this boat handles tournament fishing much better then my Sabre did. The Sabre was great for just a day out with my boys fishing, but when I fished tournaments I needed more boat that would handle the longer, harder, rougher runs that you have to make sometimes. It all comes down to how much you fish and what you are wanting out of the boat as to if its worth the money to you. I love my PII.
I have on 06 classic and realy like it. I like the P-2 lay out better. Wish they were around in 06 I would have gotten one. They are the same hull. If you are wanting to look at some pre owned Bass Cats check out Phils site. There was a P-2 on here but it is gone. there are a few P-4s on there. If you are looking at a 19 footer the P-4 is really nice and has a better ride then the classic or the P-2 http//www.impactfishing.com/
