Hey guys, i just bought a used 09 pantera in LA.. I live in AR. and i was wanting to know if i will haft to pay sales tax since the boat has never been registered in AR.?
I think you pay sales tax on the trailer when you register……but not totally sure.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
If it was the other way around (ie, bought in AR and registering in LA) you would pay sales tax on the trailer and not the boat/motor if bought from an individual. If you bought from a dealer youd pay sales tax on all. But I dont know the rules in AR. Sorry.
There are no sales taxes on used boats sold in Louisiana and registered in Arkansas. On used trailers there is a sales tax if the value exceeds a certain amount, which turns should not and thus you should owe no sales tax.
If boat was registered in Louisiana with wildlife and fisheries, provide that card to the buyer at time of purchase. In the United States, you have to pay the sales tax once on a boat and outboard motor. You will have to pay taxes to register the trailer. I would recommend doing two seperate bills of sale one for the boat/engine one for trailer
I have.done.this this year in ar. Sales tax will only b charged on trailer and only.if more.than 2500 on trailer… Two bills of sale withone for trailer. Make trailer less than 2500C.O.D. Jr. III
On the bill of sale just list the three , boat, engine, and trailer with serial #s and separate values assigned to each and it should be sufficient. And it was $2,500.00, i dont know what it is now, but separate items.
Thaks so much for the info, thats correct in the fact you only pay taxes on the trailer on a used rig. I was afraid that because the boat had never been registered in ar. they might still get me. The purchase price on used autos, and trailers that you pay taxes on just recently changed from $ 2,500 to $ 4,000.
