Id say stay at Shirlys Creek Marina(cabins) ,ease over to Canyon area and Deer Stand area for topwater for big fish around the grass.BAYOU BANDIT

Jackson Hill is were we go out of for Federation tournaments. They have cabins and a resturant with good food. As for the fishing, havent been since first part of March and most fish were caught on skinny dippers and wacky worms. Good luck!

Been forever since I fished Rayburn and my wife and I are gonna give it a try this weekend. We will stay around Lufkin. Any posters live or fish it enough to give a report? I know it is real low. Any marina on the west side (further north the better) you recommend? I am guessing most bass will be 4-10 feet. Living on Lake Conroe I forgot what its like to fish with hydrilla but am looking forward to some topwater action early and late.Any baits advice and non-super-tournament-protected-until-you-die-hotspots would be appreciated. Man, I have never been there at that time of year, but I would probably fish a worm or jig around the timber on the main lake points. I have always done good with top waters over or near the grass at every time of year I have been there. I have done well with crank baits on the points also. Maybe someone else with more experience at that time of year will chime in here in a little bit. One place I have always caught fish is on the rip rap at the Dam with cranks and worms.

Right now the lake is almost 9 low so you have to watch where you run and look for sand bars. If things keep going the lake will drop another foot buy the time you get here. Anyway the Canyons are good this time of year frogs,POP-R ,Fluke,Wackey worm,Senko basic stuff. You can also try Veach it is the same way just watch where you are running it Dangerous right now if you dont know the lake very well just take your time.
