Is there anyway to prevent further scratches from being caused by the hose that comes out of the motor protecting the wires leading into the back of the boat? That splash area in front of the motor has taken a beating from the hose rubbing back and forth across it. Any Suggestions??

all i do is hold the hoses out of the way somehow and use a buffer to get all the scratches out do it twice a year, i wish there was a way to eliminate all of this work though

On my 08 Puma I had the same problem. Maybe someone on here will remember where you can buy them aftermarket, I believe it is T&H Marine. They are cloth zip up rigging covers. I actually had mine made by a canvas outfit for both my rigging hoses and hydraulic steering hoses. They have worked great for the shafing in the splashwell.

The zip shielding does help greatly in reducing the hose drag marks. BCB is not big on putting something in the splash well or covering the gel coat as a previous competitor use such a product mainly to cover up stress fractures on a weak splash well construction. Everyone thought is was absolutely cool though when they pulled the mat it was bust all to heck. After that BCB has not been a fan of covering the splash well at all. This should explain why they dont have a covering there. The zip boots and some other products have been used. Last edited by bassCat1971 on July 20th, 2010, 4:59 am, edited 1 time in total.

Like NELACAT, I too have installed the 3M clear-bra-protection-film in a few select areas prone to scratches/abrasion including the splashwell. So far so good…

I use the clear protection stuff also, works great, If it wears out, put some more on. I use it on passengers rod locker area and the splash well, it has held up really well!
