I have a 2012 Cougar, 225 Pro XS.The end cap on the port side of the cylinder that is leaking. Is this covered under warranty? What would be the cause (s)?Also, have what looks like a 1/4″ Vac. tube that goes around thestarboard side of the gas tank up towards the console that looks to be broken off.Tried to locate the connection by the length of the hose, but couldnt find where it connected. Thanks for the help in advance!Last edited by Cleminator on October 4th, 2015, 12:22 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Your hydraulic steering is probably not under warranty and the tubing that is going toward the console is likely for the speedometer. It would be wise for you take to your local mechanic to have them look at and repair your steering as needed.
Where would be the connection point?
The speedometer hose run from the lower unit to the gauge on the dash. Some have a connection union somewhere around the splash well and the lower unit. This is for easy disconnect when removing the lower unit. If its disconnected I would think your getting water in the boat when operating. If its the water pressure hose it hooks to the motor block aND run to the gauge Ive never seen these with a splice unless someone added for easy removal during a motor swap or mechanical reason2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
Would it possibly go thru the main hose going to the motor?Didnt see anything on the transom or any where above the battery charger. Only thing in the splash well is the temp gage. Its about 2 long after it comes from behind the fuel tank…..
Defiantly flared on the loose end! NO WATEERLast edited by Cleminator on October 4th, 2015, 2:57 pm, edited 1 time in total.
The hose is either steering or water pressure and there are no other 1/4″, 3/16″ or 1/8″ hoses that would be in the area, unless someone removed Power Poles. If its a small grey hose then it may be a compression fitting for the water pressure. The ends press in to release the hose, and the hose just Tims into the spring loaded fitting and the movable end piece retains it. It is possible that the speedo hose is loose in there and unused also, that fitting is down on front of the Gearcase. There right beside the lower motor mount and front Gearcase bolt or nut. The steering is a 2 year warranty from SeaStar and BCB both. So your most likely out of warranty depending on purchase date, transfer and etc. the boats could have been built, or delivered, from 8-1-2011 through to 7-31-2012 and we dont know sale date into the market. If its a water pressure gauge hose it would run In the big loom going to the engine but I think it would run along the right side gunnels to the dash2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
By the sale date , there is no more warranty on the steering . — That being said , its an easy fix . — Rebuild kit available for about 100 bucks . — Took me 2 hours to fix mine and bleed the system . — Really simple system , but the bleeding is critical !! — Steering will feel ” BUMPY ” as you turn the wheel if there is ANY air in the system . — Totally smooth from lock to lock when you get it bled out correctly . — Virtually ” ZERO ” play in the wheel as well when its finished . — Hoss
