Is anyone with a Caracal running a Sea Star Jackplate? If so do you have the Pro Tap on it and how does it perform for you on shallow water takeoffs.

ProTap is an excellent option with the SeaStar plate. The ProTap allows preset upper and lower stops, holding the stalk handle for 1 second activates the presets. Raise it to take off, tap it down to running range height once you start the hole shot.

It also has presets to activate the trim also. Tuck it in for hole shot and one second for top end performance once your underway and throttle down.

The SeaStar Plate is one of our two suggested plates and it has been redesigned in 2018 with easier access to install. The motor is quick and it requires SmartStick trim sender for the ProTap to operate.

It doesn’t look like many owners have made the choice to use the Sea Star Jackplate verse the Atlas and Bob’s Machine. Can anyone shine some light on why you didn’t go with Sea Star considering they are the only brand with the option of Pro Tap or memory capabilities.

I have the SeaStar. Been using about 2 years. I do not have the Pro Tap but love it. Selected it over other brands due it all metal construction. Very quick and have had no problems.

I have a Detwiler on my 2014 Puma, not sure where it fits in the version saga. I believe it does have the integrated Mercury pump. Plate works flawlessly. Seems very strong. Happy with it

Well, I just got the Sea Star Gen 2 jackplate with Pro Tap. Going to take the Atlas off and see how the Sea Star will perform.

OK, I need some help from the purchasing department at BCB. I have the Sea Star Jackplate, however the Gauge and the Pro Tap were not in the box. I am guessing that they are ordered under a separate part number from the jackplate. I have tried leaving Billy a message but have not heard back from him. If anyone can help me get the correct part numbers so mu install can be complete, it would be greatly appreciated.

We buy plates with height gauges and the Pro Tap is a separate part. The plate from BCB should have a gauge. Those plates elsewhere do not come with gauges and SmartStick.

Monday give them a buzz in parts and see how they can help.
