Sears PM 31 Problems?

Are the Sears PM 31 cranking batteries lasting a long time for those of you using them? Ive had one on mine for 6 months. (250Pro XS). I noticed today after about 5 hours of fishing, my volts were down to 11.7 according to both my Humminbirds. (No pumps were running when showing 11.7). Motor still started fine and battery sounded strong but normally after 8 hours it still shows 12.2. Just curious if they are lasting for everyone else? My NOCO 4 bank showed charged when I left the house.

If that is showing low volts on the front graph be sure you check the battery itself. They do last much better than 6 months and while batteries fail with regularity, PM 31 batts usually do not.

What is the cost of the pm 31? I looked on sears website and they have quite a few marine batteries not sure which one is the better one.

I think I paid $300. Cant remember for sure. They told me 6-8 years of real service. Most people like them. If mine is getting weak, they will have to give another. But I really doubt 6-8 years of service is possible.

Mainliner61, nice to meet you yesterday at the ramp at Dardanelle. Have my PM 1 going on 5 years now. I to had issues with voltage on my 06 puma graphs. Corrosion main culprit, probably not so much on a newer rig. On cleaning all this I learned there were a lot of connection points from the battery to the graphs. Through the master switch etc Wiring graphs directly to the battery will eliminate those extra connections and the lower volts. How did you do yesterday.

Thanks for the battery input. On the fishing yesterday, it was tough. I burned a tank of gas to get to an area that I have had to myself for over a month. My partner and I had over 24 lbs there a couple weeks ago too. I got there yesterday and 4 boats were there. Appearently they have been found. So I scrambled all day to weigh in just 2 fish for 7 pounds. Only 2 boats had a limit so it was tough.

Hate it when you get to a spot and its loaded with other boats. Just happens. I struggled to catch one small one for the day. Still better than being at work. Spring is around the corner and things will certainly get better. Tight lines and be safe.

I just ordered a NOCO jump starter to carry in case it craps out on me. Maybe I can at least get back to the truck if it happens. That jump starter has a lithium battery and the whole unit only weighs 2.6 lbs. Says itll start your engine 20 times on a single charge. You can charge it with a phone charger or computer with the USB cord. 116 bucks, worth a shot. Sounds good anyway.
