Have had the Puma out several time now and can load and unload with no problem. She gets on plane at 14 MPH and from there ya gott hang on. The problem I have is getting on plane. I have tried leaving it right on level, trim down, trim down some more and also tried trimming up. I have a 275 Verado and a 27 Tempest plus with all the plastic pieces in it. When I pour the power to it, the bow goes way up and I am looking at the sky.I am not afraid of going over backwards but you cant see anything in front of you.At tips, pointers or starting points would be appreciated. I have had several other boats and dont ever remember having a problem like this.I know after doing things for a long time you dont even think about it. I am no where near that point yet.ThanksJohn

We did not have the highest opinion of the 27 Tempest on the 275 Verado. This engine is the same ponies as a 250 Pro Verado today and we would try a 26 Fury and maybe even a 25 as the RPM range is into 6400 for this engine. Also we wonder the history on this rig.

You said “level, trim down , and trimmed down some more”. Make sure it is ALL THE WAY trimmed down as low as she goes, also are you running a hydraulic jackplate or manual? Where is it set? Id also go with the 26 fury.

Verados are all on manual plates due to weights.

I agree trim it all the way in for a holeshot. Not very many boats will be decent out of the hole with not trimming the engine in all the way.

BC and others, thanks for the information. I have a 26 Tempest I am going to try before I commit to a 25 or a Fury of either pitch. I am hoping the different prop will make a difference in addition to trimming all the way down. It is a load to get up on plane but once there it does not take much to make her scoot. The motor has about 300 hours on it and the prop looks like it is brand new with no chips or dings. I am thinking that it was put on to make it look nice and was not intended for that motor. I bought the rig used and do not have any history other than BC only showed one other registered owner.Thanks againJohn
