I tried the search function without much luck. I’m torn between spot lock and Raptors/Poles.

I mainly fish shallow. Points, grass, wood, shallow 10’ or less creek channels, boat docks etc…I also boat captain freshmen for the high school team. A few times last fall I could have used either in some windy conditions. My fishing buddies tell me trolling motor first then poles.

what is your opinion?

Less than 5’ poles. Greater than 5’ spot lock. You know which you fish the most.

I agree with Phil. I have both but If I had to give one up I guess it would be spot lock. Only because I am rarely in more than 5 or 6 feet of water. I do use my spot lock a ton though any time I’m in a canal with current and I know my troller won’t stir up the bottom. Pretty much every time I set the hook I hit spot lock to hold me until I’m ready for my next cast. If you mostly reservoir fish or river fish I would definitely pick spot lock if I could only have one. Even down here in South, La. it has changed the way I fish.

I also have both. However my last boat I had only spot lock. Mostly because I like to fish into the current/wind. I live in North Florida and use spot lock much more than my poles.

What Phil said.

I use my poles all the time and can’t imagine not having them now. I had a stick-it pole I would carry before I had the poles to anchor in one place. You may want to consider the spot lock and then also carry a stick-it pole for those times you want to stay in one spot w/out the TM going (ie, sight fishing). I still use the stick-it on my electric only boat.
