I was at Hamiton on Sat evening and ran into John Helms (aka Silver Bullet 2008). He has a silver cougar ftd and man that thang is ssssaaawwwweeeeeeettt. I tell you a sillver cat does it for me. If i ever order one, it will be silver and have silver fenders on the trailer. Anyway, heck of a nice guy and hope to wet a hook with him soon. -Lee
Thanks, Lee. It sure was a pleasure getting to meet you and put a face with the name. Your boat is a beauty herself , and it made my day getting the chance to meet a BCB “brother” out on Lake Hamilton. I look forward to draggin some chunks out of Ouachita with you soon …..they outta be getting hungry! John Helms Hot Springs, ARJohn Helms Hot Springs, AR
That is awesome. I loves me some silver Kittys too. The last 3 have been some variety of silver. Oh and Lee I know where one is with some silver j/k I know you are loving yours as you should be. Judd Lasiter
Judd, If the old lady let me fish more and the pocket book would allow it, I would be all over your rig. Doug has told me that all you do is scrub on that boat and it is immaculate. I am sure whoever buys your boat will be getting new boat at used price. Right now I just cant justify a bigger boat. My classic really does everything I need it to do, I know I have said it before but I would have never imagined being this happy with my boat. I got Johns email address and the first part of it was arkayaker@…., I laughed at John and told him that Cougar FTD with the 250 Pro XS hanging off the back was far from a kayak.
Lee, Thanks…Doug harasses PA and I about the cleanliness of our rigs, come to think of it I dont think Doug is alone in this. But that is ok the first serious person that looks at it will buy it…guaranteed it happens that way every year. I just have to get someone seriously looking and they will come. Speaking of which I have someone coming over tomorrow nite so keep your fingers crossed. I dont know if I ever told you this but I had a 99 Classic and I kept that boat longer than any other boat I have ever owned. It is an awesome ride and will do anything and everything these bigger boats will it might just not be quite as comfortable when that TX spring and fall winds pick up…but it will do it. The best thing about that boat is being able to blow by guys on the lake and at weighin have them aggravated that you are running a 200 and smoked them with their 225s. That boat will run and pass a bunch of boat with bigger motors on them and there is some satisfaction in that. Anyway…enjoy that rig it is a goodun and one of my favorites up to this point even still. The kayak is a good one. JL
Not to mention that its hard as heck trying to catch fish when you cant let go o yer paddle. Last edited by 2008 silver bullet on October 8th, 2008, 1:41 am, edited 1 time in total.John Helms Hot Springs, AR
Awesome picture but looks like way to much work Be careful out there. JL
Silver Bullett Just looking for some information on Lake Hamilton. It looks like they are going to draw it down 9 feet this year, do you know since they upgraded the ramp at the hatchery if you will be able to launch there with the lake this low. I know before they improved the ramp there used to be a long single ramp that allowed you to launch with the lake 9 feet low. Just not sure if it was left there or removed. Thanks for any info. Jack
Jack, Sunnybrook (Carpenter Dam) is one steep son-of-a-gun, but you may be able to get in there if youre really careful. I think thats going to be the only option from what Ive heard. And youre correct on the 9 drawdown for this year. I wish I had better news for you, sorry Correction: According to a friend that should know, he says that the hatchery WILL work for us at the 9 down level. He seems fairly certain that they both extended the ramp and deepened the pool at the bottom of it. 2008 Silver Bullett, Thanks for the update. I have used the other ramp at Carpenter once, that was enough, it is very steep. There is some awesome fishing there when it gets dropped that low. Plus you can see things that most ride over to fish later at full pool. Thanks again. Jack
