Any thoughts on the pros and cons of having a single or dual console on the 20 boats.
I see that you are up in NJ, if you want your partner to be happy, your wife to be willing to go in the morning, get the dual. We have one boat out of 50 up here with a single console. The first tournament I fished was as a noboater in a single console Crestliner with a 90 hp motor on it, I almost froze to death at 40 mph, I would have been a popsicle at 70mph. Up north, if you want to fish when you want to, instead of waiting for it to warm up, get the dual, if you dont like your partner or your wife, get the single:) Mike in MontanaLast edited by mike dominick on March 30th, 2010, 11:41 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I like the dual simply because of many of the same idea from mike dominick….you do loose some functional skills of moving around and down the sides of the boat, but you get used to it. The glove box is also a nice touch to carry day use item, etc.
Its personal preference, I had a dual console for 8 years and liked it for the partners sake only. I now have a single console and LOVE the additional space. I have a mask/helmet the partner can wear in cold weather. The amount of space is unreal without the second console. I can pull rods out of the locker without bending them and I can SIT wherever I want when I re-tie a rig. There is NO longer one passage way to the front of the boat. I will NEVER go back to a dual console! It will save you some money also when ordering a boat without the second console. The dual does look better in a boat, but I dont care about that! My partner has a dual console in his boat, but he is going to remove his because he likes the space that mines has without it! Good luck!
If your looking for a consensus. What Mike D. said.

Couldnt agree more on the single console giving you more space. Dual consoles are nice but man do you give up space putting in rods and moving around. That is critical for me as well.
I have owned 2 of each and prefer the dual because of looks and protection for my partners especially in bad weather. I have not had any problems with the rod thing people talk about, I usually have 4-8 rods on the deck at all times and they are all 7-7 1/2 long, nor any problems putting them in the box. As far as the moving around part, I always went down the middle to get from back to front and visa-versa that it never seemed like a problem. But ultimately it is your choice.Joe Fuerst2001 P3
With 3 little girls and a wife who is willing to go with me, I really want the extra security of the dual console. On my Puma FTD there is plenty of room for my gear even when tournament fishing. John
My next cat will be a dual console (DC), and Ill gladly give up the extra space the single console (SC) provides if it means my wife and son will go out on the boat more. Until then, I will enjoy the space my SC Jag provides. The current models allow you to add a DC down the road if you prefer. You may consider ordering as a DC but not having them install the second console. Put the console aside and then you can always install it later. The reason I suggest ordering w/ is to ensure color match. Last edited by rlb8s on March 30th, 2010, 10:01 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Single if its only you fishing. Dual would stricktly be for a partner. Your boat – your choice.Ever hit a duck going 70 early in the morning low light?
