I have an 04 P4 with a 200 3L EFI on a 6″ Slidemaster manual and a 25P Trophy prop. I have 2 8 Talons on side mount brackets but am all about flexibility and remove and add them as needed. I can do that on my slidemaster. I normally fish the steep and deep Highland reservoirs of the Ozarks but also some flatter water like Dardanelle. Even in the steep and deep I often find myself anchoring shallow and fishing uphill. Anyways I digress… I fixed the hole shot blowout I initially saw with the talons by going with 3 solid and 1 small PVS plugs. Im seeing 5560ish RPMS in OI conditions this year and still pretty much run trimmed all the way. Rooster tail is still over the cowling but Im not a fireboat. 53 gallons with the saddle tanks and 4 31 series batteries plus I run heavy anyways but the weight is all in the back and only light stuff ahead of the driver. Im at 5/8″ below flush on my plate but am in a situation where I feel I need to lower my plate even more to get more top end with the Talons on. However I cant go lower without damaging my hydraulic steering fittings. I have a 14 yo who is likely not to remember this and just trim it till it wont trim anymore so I cant just be mindful. I dont know what is involved with the trim stops. Questions: will going lower likely help top end? Will an 8″ Slidemaster give more clearance to the hydraulic steering? Will a Fury prop in what pitch add more bow lift or top end? Can the Slidemaster be run on test runs without the side bolts tightened (and without the Talons). Any suggestions appreciated to try and get more top end back both with and without the Talons. Thanks. Deke
