I finally got out today to run the boat.Everything seems cool as far as I could tell except for the hotfoot.Pedal action is fine except that it sticks at the full throttle position. At a little past 3/4 throttle, you can feel the linkage rubbing against the base.I checked the spring and it seems to be just fine. The hotfoot base is mounted with the thumbscrew on the right side of my foot.Is this correct ? Could this be the reason for it sticking.Seems to me the base should be mounted with the screw on the left side. How much of a pain in the kazoo is it gonna be to switch it around ? Thanks
The thumbscrew on my HF is on the left side. You should have your dealer look at it before you use it again. You do not want it to stick as it could become stuck and dangerous in a heart beat. Good luck. pant 2 Bob
We can not visualize the thumb screw being on the wrong side, as the hot foot only has that left option from memory. The sticking of the hot foot is more likely the cable itself or mechanics binding in the hot foot.
The thumbscrew is on the right side.I believe they mounted the base wrong. There is no way you could adjust that pedal anymore forward because it would then hit the thumbscrew. You can hear and feel that linkage grating on the base. I would love to take it back to the dealer, but they are 3.5 hours away. It seems like I should be able to unscrew the base and just flip around. Is anymore complicated than that ?
We have never reversed a base to see if there is a drag? We will figure that one out. The stop thumb screw should be left, and reversal would be prudent. The holes should be resealed and the cable we suggest is a Premium ghrade cable on all installs. You pay double or more for the cable, though you get that much more satisfaction out of it. Yes even the cables are better in a BCB.
i had a throttle cable develope a kink at the motor and didnt know it till one afternoon the throttle hung open. an eye opening experience to say the least. thank goodness for a calm head and a quick pull of the kill switch. hope you get it figured out.
Well I hate to to say it but : I WAS RIGHT !!! hahahaha………I switched the base around, switched the slide around(that mounts to the hotfoot) and it works like a champ. The linkage WILL DRAG ON THE BASE RAIL BECAUSE ITS NOT MEANT TO BE ON TOP OF IT.Which is what was happening with the screw side mounted to the right. Now that the linkage is unobstructed it works like a dream… PAT,PAT,PAT,PAT…..Thats right,Im patting myself on the back……….I knew something was wrong about that install. Now that its right I cant wait to get back out.In reality I wasnt even getting full throttle. It was stopping at about 3/4…..wooohoooooo…. Muddukk…………doing as much as he can himself….
Hey Mudduck, glad you have it fixed. Your right, a pat on the back to you. As a precaution, I would be ready for anything when you use it the first time out. Let us know. pant 2 Bob
This was an aftermarket install plate we assume? We know the direction it is supposed to be installed and hope the staff did not err. If they did we need to know!
