Bought my first Basscat a few weeks ago (2007 Puma 225 optimax). Second time out, the boat wouldnt get on pad and couldnt exceed 3000 rpm. Took it back to the dealer and they said the throttle positioning sensor came apart. Took it out again today, trimmed her all the way down, hammered the throttle, got up to 3000 rpm right away, wouldnt pick up anymore rpm until the nose started to come down but it took over 15 seconds to plane. I believe at WOT was only turning about 5100 rpm. Also, didnt feel like the boat had the lift that it should. Looking at the FAQ forum, I believe the motors set to high. The prop is a fury 25p. Any thoughts from any basscat owners?

Should of mentioned the back of the jackplate is 1 1/2 inches above the slide

Hot Foot? Maybe the throttle isnt going all the way open. Other than that and since they just installed a new TPS, could be more issues there. You should be able to turn that 25 Fury better than that unless the prop has been worked on.

No hotfoot. Prop doesnt appear to have any work done on it…

Sounds like possibly a coil out, sorry but back to dealer.

Kind of leaning towards not just motor setup… Bright side is at least I got a two year warranty on the merc…

Had a plug wire work loose once and it behaved that way. I was impressed would still run 60 on 5 cylinders. Dont overlook easy stuff. Check plugs and wires.

Do you have any grey with orange writing fuel line? If so pull the fuel filter and look down in the VST. ( I would do this regardless) Anything in there? If so you may need new line, the vst cleaned, and possibly a new low pressure pump. Next check coils, plugs, wires. Glad its under warranty, your dealer should be able to figure it out quickly.

You said you took it back to the dealer,so I am assuming that you bought it at the dealer,and maybe some type of warranty,maybe? If so instead of being in here asking all these questions,which there is nothing wrong with that,why not take it back to them,tell them to run the boat like they should have after they had done the repairs so that they can experience the issue and fix it,the way they should have done the first time. Just a thought
