My daughter and I played hookie from school and work and hit Candlewood lake in Conn. She caught her first Small mouth and I had some nice fish as well. While we were out on the lake I figured that she should learn how to drive the boat (never know what could happen and its best to be prepared in case something every happened to me on the water). She was digging that and it was pretty funny watching her idle around the middle of the lake, She wanted to go faster but could not reach the hotfot. Gotta be one of my favorite days on the water ever!! I dont think she was having too much fun, Check out the smile!! She had to wear her”Puma” pants on the water!! My 2 big fish from the day, Too bad it wasnt a Tourney Had these 2 toads and a couple more 3 pounders

She is a beauty. I agree on the never know what will happen and teaching part also. I wish my daughter would go with me but so far no luck. Maybe someday I will get to have a moment like that to remember. She is my world, but hers is still horses and Hanna!

Congratulations, Im sure she will be the best fishing partner youll ever have. Ive found a small church at waters edge on my home lake . . . many camp owners access it by water. My 6 year old daughter loves the boat ride there on Sunday mornings as much as the picnic and fishing after the service. Absolutely PRICELESS!!!

Nice job, with the fishes, and an even better job with your daughter. You are absolutely right to teach her all you can about the boat and how to handle it. Meredith, my 16 year old daughter, can drive the my Cougar FTD as well as most men, and better than some, and is a strong tournament partner. If something were to happen to me on the water, she could get things planed off, and back to the ramp. Dads like us need to send a strong message–Take your daughters fishing! If they are in the boat, you know where they are, who they are with, when they will come home, and what WILL NOT hurt them. Plus, it is a great time to talk about life and what is going on in theirs.
