SMART CRAFT GAUGES QUESTION FOR BCB AND ALL OTHERS WHO CAN HELP

I have a 2002 pantera classic and my trim gauges is acting crazy all of a sudden its all over the place up and down and the motor isnt moving and trim on motor is working correctly its just the guage has gone crazy what would cause this it worked fine last time i took it out only difference i just had the lower unit serviced and added a trim tab to help with steering torque

Sounds like a bad sending unit… But check your connections

I dont know anything about em how much is a sending unit and where would the connecions be

sending unit shld be on the front bottom side of the motor cowling area, between that and motor mounting bracket passenger top side… itll be round with 2 wires. Id take a picture for ya but my boat is outta town… Check the wires on the back of the gauge first for any corrosion. Im sure someone will chime in soon that can take a pic or describe it better to ya… Im unsure of price

Two bolts with 5/16″ heads, two wires with one grounded and one bullet connected in the cowling. Round part which FTD into a noth in the trim pin. You can sometimes shim it tighter into the housing and get the sender to read, though it soon will have to be replaced.

The Mercury Warranty was extended to cover all components for the duration of engine warranty in the mid 2000 years. Before that the engine had a warranty, and parts (accessories) had a one year warranty. It is our understanding that tis is the same system today.

You have to trim the motor up high to see the sending unit. Its outside the cowling lower left front. If your boat has analog gauges, then it is round. If you have digitial trim sensors, then it is rectangular.

Well i just returned inside from trying everything and its official its gonna have to have a new one, but it looks very easy to install so the next question is how much is one of those dudes
