Plugged intake pitot hole on the engine probably. They get trash in the hole. BCB

Could you tell me where the pitot hole is located on the engine? Thanks

Located on the front of the lower unit down close to the nosecone. Should be a small hole – maybe 1/16″ You can use a small drill bit BY HAND to remove debris from the hole. DO NOT use a drill. Hope that helps. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax

That would be the location. It is a frequent issue which is why folks wire the Smart Craft into their GPS receivers. Then they dont rely on mechanical input. BCB

Thanks for the help. The hole had wood in it, used a bit by hand think I got it cleaned out. How complicated is it to wire the guage to the gps.

Not that tough, some folks on here have done it and the directions will be archived here somewhere. You might try a search at the top? Also the manual on your Smart Craft units has those directions. If you cant find themanual there is an online site for those. BCB

Thanks JWT, we have had some internal PC issues and it would not pop up for us last night. We hope to finish resolving those today, one down two more to go! BCB

I have a problem with the speed guage. When i put it on instant average mode it just reads zeros. I reset it and still the same, when the motor is running. Anyone have an idea what the problem is, and what I can do to fix it. Thanks for any responses.

It would depend on the year model if we would do it ourselves. If you have warranty remaining, then it is a warranty item. You can put it on yourself easily if you prefer. BCB
