My son was running while prefishing a College tournament today and the smartcraft alarm triggered at 118 degrees with three alarms that coincide – flashing temperature, engine and bell. This happened a second time a few hours later running around 130 degrees. I cant find anything in the manual or on the internet that would match this. Has anybody ran across this? Looking for insight I can obtain in a quick fashion. Thanks.

It is possible that you have good water pressure to the engine, Good engine temps and you get the alarm. I had a similar situation happen to me and it was the water flow going to the compressor that had been partially blocked. I kept getting an alarm with a fault flashing on my Nexsyslink gauge and after some digging around I found the water inlet to the compressor screen plugged nearly solid with wood particles. Thanks Chris, I was questioning the water pressure as well. Looked like the water stream was fluttering. He was fishing in back waters in low water – so this could likely be the culprit. Just surprised the water temperature was not elevated if this was the case?? We checked discharge and was getting full stream. Took for test run tonight and seems to be working OK. Just slightly concerned about not seeing high temperatures at time of the alarm and concerned may reoccur tomorrow during tournament.

Make sure the upper reservoir is full on the oil tank under the cowling. Also try a Mercury board for better input as we are not Merc. technicians.
