If after you find out what parts you need, if you are installing it yourself makesure you look on ebayer before you buy it from the dealer. I hit and broke the lense on my water pressure gauge with my pro pole. The price I got it on ebay was a 10th of what the dealer wanted.
The gauge is pretty expensive in itself. It is a relatively new unit that has no time to get old on the shelf yet. Thus there are no real bargains on those. The other is a possible do it yourselfer set up. We suggest you make a call to the factory and ask Mr Copeland about the possibility of the gauge or what parts you might need. You can explain to him it is the new RPM and monitor gauge. He can probably help you with the part numbers for the install cables and such. Though they do not stock the gauge in house. The gauge you should be able to get on line at MercNet and a dealer will drop ship it to you and it would probably be full price. Thus we would see about an e-bay option. They do have the smaller mini gauge that has Tach and other functions in stock at BCB, and they can explain that to you. You can do some research at Mercury Marine. com and see what you can figure out. BCB Admin.
BCB I visited the only bass boat dealer in my area(Ranger), asking about the possibility of them installing a SC1000 tachometer/monitor in my basscat Sabre. I was pretty much dismissed with just giving me the list price for the gauge(354.00), and a guess of about 2 hours(@110.00/hr) to install. They acted like they were reallly not interested in helping me out. So…..Can you recommend a competent Merc dealer in the Orange county Ca. area that could install this? Or should I take the boat to the new Basscat dealer in San Diego? Or is there a dealer in the Inland Empire(Riverside,San Bernadino)? Or since the cable is basically plug and play, is it possible for a layman such as myself to run the cable up to the dash? Need some advice. Or should I just call someone at Basscat? Thanks Bob
You can purchase a nice smartcraft monitor to and install it in the Speedo hole. Easy to do basically a plug and play. A monitor. A short harness. And a 4 way junction. Give sherm marine a call talk to sherm he will hook you up. The install is easy. And takes a hour or so2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I had Sherm install a Merc monitor in my Caracal when I bought it. Just used it to replace the speedometer. No hole to drill. I kept the other Beede gauges
Dont mean to hijack, but what sort of ballpark price for the monitor, harness, and junction? My speedo hasnt worked in years (believe theres a wee bit o log in the intake hole) and Ive been thinking about swapping it out for a Smartcraft…if I understand correctly, my 2011 Sabre FTD Advantage Elite, with 150 Optimax should have the right harness under the dash, so doesnt requiring running a cable back to the motor?2011 Sabre FTD w/ Mercury 150 Pro XS, Power Pole Sportsman 2s, Humminbird 898 w/ 360 and 858 at bow, 898 at ConsoleFor lots of BCB love, follow me on instagram: @professorbeard
I got just the basic (around 300$). I was just interested in water temp. Though for a little more you can get the NICER one. (Shows 3 features at once). That for everything you need!. 2006 and newer. And being a cat no need for the harness to the motor. Your hook up will be in the dash. Its simple!. I removed my sherms plate at the console. Wide open easily accessible harness. Oh did I say how easy this instal was. Give sherm call he will explain all your options. Literally. Its s plug and play. Best money I ever spent.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
