I took this business associate fishing and hes a smoker. Its usually breezy here on the California delta so of course he burns a hole in the carpet on the port side aft hatch cover. He wants to pay for fixing the damage and I am wondering what to do, get the carpeting replaced or replace the hatch cover. Can the factory supply a hatch cover that is already carpeted ?? My boat is a 2007 that is always garaged when not in use so I dont think the carpet has faded very much. Help please ??? Fishdist on the California Delta

Take your pick? We can supply the carpet or the lid complete. The carpet is usually your best option. Another thought would be a clean spot patch. Cut out the burn spot and put a plug in it. Just let us know what you need. BCB

BCB, Thanks very much for the reply. The clean spot patch seems to be the way to go. Is this a DIY item or something for the carpeting pro to do ?? I think I know a guy who could do it. How small a piece of carpet can I get from you and what to you need to know to get me the right color ?? Thanks again. Fishdist on the California Delta

I had a buddy burn drop a cigar cherry on my back lid on a older boat I had. I cut a piece of extra carpet out of the rodbox (it wasnt BCB and had extra carpet in there) then cut out all the burnt area but not the carpet backing and then with scissors cut off the carpet strands off the extra carpet in chunks and super glued them into the hole that the burn created. Once the glue dried I trimmed it off the match the existing carpet and you couldnt tell it was there. Time consuming and tedious but looked good when done. Good luck and sorry about your carpet.
