This is for the speed demons out there. I thought of you guys when I was standing in front of this beauty from 1956.Chrysler Queen, 168.2 mph 50+ years ago!Yes, that would be wooden with glass fairing on top.Oh, and a driver with a BIG set of huachas.Antique Boat Musem, Clayton NY

Always has to be a smarta$$ in the crowd…Pretty sure I would have skimmed over that one at even 68. Probably melted the sand to a glass sheet at 168.I was trying to figure out how to put a MotorGuide TR82 on the bow.No Delta Lake this trip, rydogggg. Will keep that in mind for the next trip up, though. Only big on ham and cheese sammiches, BTW.

These are in the Boat Museum at Clayton, New York, right there in the French Creek area. If you havent been there it is a beautiful place and was a historical vacation site for many of the wealthy families from our “Industrial Age”. Thats the way Americans used to be entrepreneurs and what built this country. That area around Alex Bay, Clayton and the south east area of Lake Ontario, From Sacketts Harbor and Sandy on, is really a unique cultural exhibit of our history. Rick

When fishing northern Champlain near Canadian border last week we were fishing a cause way with a small bridge. Had to move when this beautiful all wood Chris Craft inboard straight shaft idled through and then took off. It was thing of beauty and the gentlemen driving obviously spent a lot of time maintaining it. And that baby could still get up and go. Cut through 2 plus waves like a hot knife through butter. Wish I thought to grab my camera to take a picture. Pure craftsmanship. Love to see the old wooden boats.
