2016 Pro XS 2B231582, Gen2 Torquemaster, 25P Fury 3. Purchased boat from brother. During a Costa event @ Lake Seminole he hit a stump and ruined lower unit. Mercury Marine tech shipped in new Wingmaster and replaced next day. All is fine. New lower unit with same Fury 3 and hub (840389K06) now have 20 hrs and lower unit gear oil should be changed. I go to change gear oil and cant get prop off (see original post). Get prop off, purchase new hub from Don & Rhonda. Tap new hub in and slide prop on. prop will not seat, rubbing housing. Pull prop and notice a small wad of metal on recessed area where prop goes into housing. Tapped with flat screwdriver and metal wad popped off. Cleaned up recess on prop and reinstalled with no issues. My assumptions? Brother hit stump, bent propshaft, he and I operated boat with no issues for 20 hrs. Metal wad was from wobbling prop on bent propshaft thus rubbing inside of housing weld itself to recess, cleared itself on new lower unit. How did Merc tech not see wad? Really wish I was there to witness the installation. All seems fine, have not run but am confident I have solved the issue. Thanks for everyones input. This was my 1st time pulling a prop/hub and changing LU oil. Learned a lot by doing it myself. I also purchased the service manual, hope I never need it.
