Nice to fish a 88 boat year long tournament trail with most boats being Nitros since it was a Bass Pro Shops sponosred through Sylacauga Marine a Nitro dealer in Alabama. Good folks, great expereince, still pinching myself to see if I am still dreaming. I think there was one other BassCat boat in the 10 boat final on Sunday. I did not get a chance to meet him. My partner was awesome and on fire. We got lucky on the 4 lake draw and pulled our home lake on the Coosa Chain. However, most of the guys fish Lay anyway. That being said my Pantera 4 worked awesome and performed very well with my 200 HPDI. We were impacted by a overnight cold front on top of our two day cold front with a 12° drop in temps. On second day of fishing we had to make a change with only 10-11 lbs in the boat and made a pattern adjustment, ran twenty miles to another area and won the tournament in the final two hours. We hit our first area and my partner Barry Wilson (awesome fisherman) nailed a 3.2 lber on first cast. I am culling and weighing two smaller fish with the 3.2 lbe in the net and within 30 seconds Barry is screaming for the net. I dump the fish out in the bottom of the boat with them flipping around like mexican jumping beans racing to the my partner with the net and we get a 5.32 lber on the next cast. I went Iconelli for 5 seconds, hurt myself doing break dance (now Im dreaming, JK) and the rest was history. My Patera IV ran with full tournament load, 18 rods on the deck, two full grown men, minus the empty livewells and twenty plus gallons of gas at take off . We hit 71.7 on the GPS. Knowing the PIV is not the fastest hull in the BassCat lineup. However my PIV ran down and passed two other boats with 225s (OEMs be kept nameless) and was first to our spot. However, I did get smoked by a bullet with a 250. Of course so did everyone else too. I want to thank my dealer Scott Brech for getting me a boat to use at no charge while I was transitioning from my 2008 Sabre to my 2010 Panter PIV. I couldnt have done it with out his support. Another great reason to by a BassCat. BassCat dealers are great to work with. As for the Nitro Z7 which is a nice boat the certificate will go up for sale. You couldnt get me out of my PIV. Now I am working on getting my partner who is a Ranger Team member to switch. He loved the PIV to say the least. I am blessed and lucky and respectfully for me is better then being good. Who wants to be a millinare? Guess which person owns the BassCat PIV in the pic below. LOL…. Anyone interested in a 2010 Nitro Z7 certificate for boat, trailer and 150 optimax please contact me. Ill make you one heckuva a deal. Pic of my awesome boat. Last edited by Flyswatter on October 20th, 2009, 6:16 pm, edited 2 times in total.
Congrats on the win buddy, at least your partner is wearing the correct hat!!! Just kidding Yammie and Merc guys. Tom and I have been jabbing each other since he got his new ride.
Congrats to you and Barry on a good year and winning the big one!
Ron, Good one. No offense taken. Yep, hes a firm believer like you too. By the way its a great motor. Boy did he rib me good when I switched to HPDI. My only response was I told him I had a functional boarding ladder on the back of my boat and he got the message loud and clear. LOL! Wayne, they werent jumping in the boat but after my partner doubled up on two quick ones they were fish tail dancing on the floor of my boat. LOL!Last edited by Flyswatter on October 21st, 2009, 12:41 pm, edited 2 times in total.
So you missed the SEBCOG to win a Nitro same on you! Congrats that is really awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John, Thanks a bunch that means a lot coming from a guy with your experience. Just call me the Big ole BLIND squirrel who found the biggest acorn ever! I was one tired rascal. Traveled to Arizona for family wedding two weeks ago and traveled to and back from Fort Meyers FL for business seminar getting back at 12:45 Saturday morning to wake up 3 hours later to meet Barry at the ramp for the classic. Sure am glad major travel is over for the year. Jay, yep, I felt real guilty missing Sebcog. Dont tell me John got Kelly lost at the weigh in this year.
