I recently moved to Tifton, Georgia and I was wondering if any one here could provide a little information about the fishing in this area. I believe that the closest lakes are Blackshear, Seminole, and Walter F. George (Eufaula in Alabama). I am originally from Greeneville, TN so I have not fished shallow, weedy lakes very often. Pitching/flipping, spinnerbaits, and topwater are some of my favorite techniques, so I would assume that these lakes would suit my style of fishing. Any help will be appreciated, Thanks
Eufaula is a traditional river impoundment. You can fish shallow, deep, or in-between depending on the time of year, and the part of the lake you are on. Ive caught fish up the creeks in reasonably shallow water even thru the summer. There are some good stickups/shallow flats on the main channel at various places that are also good. Have not been down in a few years, but used to always hit Manns tackle store down there as they were always ready with hot tips that actually work. Will never forget the first year I went and he told me to use “some of these” (these were bubblegum-colored soft jerkbaits that were unlike anything I could imagine being native to the river.) Worked like an absolute champ everywhere I tried em. Whether fished with or without weights (they were almost a topwater bait with no weight, but not quite). No idea about that stores current status, but they had tons of fish tanks with huge bass in them, so it was worth the visit for the tips and sights, not to mention the tackle. 2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you have a lot of options on Eufaula. Ill definitely try it out soon. I will also have to check out that tackle store if its still open. I have never used bubblegum pink soft plastic jerkbaits but I have had success with bubblegum trick worms. Pink is actually a surprisingly good topwater color. I have used bubblegum/silver skirts on buzzbaits and they work very well (especially on a 1/2oz Lunker Lure with a white head and silver blade).
I used to live right on Lake Eufaula, and it is absolutely my favorite lake for fishing. Lakepoint state park has a nice hotel and cabins for rent. In the summer, a wonderful place to fish is very close to the landing. Head out the boat road and when the channel curves to run close to the shore, start fishing a super fluke or frog in the weeds to the left and right. I guarantee you will catch good fish early in the morning. Watch out though, because you may bet your arm broken due to the extremely aggressive strikes. Lake Eufaula is absolutely wonderful. Corky
I have had good luck on Blackshear, but not near as much fun as on Eufaula and Seminole. Seminole is much more difficult to run because of the stumps in proximity to the boat roads. Idle when you are not in the channel at Seminole. Corky
The ledge fishing on Eufaula now should be good. The fall patterns on Seminole up river can be very productive and the spring on either is phenomenal. The fishing in that area is very good by comparison and once you learn it you should do well. BCB

Corky My son and I camped at lakepoint state park several times. Only problem I had was the boat ramp at the park was very narrow, and had a very shallow incline. You have to back way out to get the boat wet, and at that point your truck wheels are wet as well. As will be your feet when you get out of the truck. Other than that, the creek you launch in is a good place to fish, and then if you head out of the creek and cross the main channel, there is a brush-filled flat that is (was) quite a buzzbait spot.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
The main ranp at Lakepoint resort located on the huge main parking lot is the one to use. The ramp is great and I believe will load 4 boats at a time. I agree that the ramp at the campground is not near as good. Corky
Thanks for all of the replies. Hopefully, I will be able to fish Eufaula next weekend. I have not had the chance to fish in about a month and its killing me.

We always checked in, rolled right back to the campground, and set up the tent. And then launched at the ramp located there. Never thought to probe around to see if there was another ramp close by that was not as objectionable to use.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
