Southco Latch Installation

Removed the Perkos and installed the complete set the Southcos on my 2006 P4 last night. Talk about very nice. Very smooth operating. No drilling or filing required for installation Just a #2 phillips, 11/16″ wrenches and some lock tite. I also put the flat o-ring on top and the hard ring on the bottom. That seemed to be correct. There was no instructions. Super easy install. I will have some Perkos for sale cheap if anyone is interested. I didnt know they swapped out that easily… good to know. I once heard an analogy to putting on a pair of dress shoes. I bet it looks real nice.

Im interested in the latches, Pm me info or email me some pics, I was thinking of doing the upgrade my self to the southcos latch but $ tight with all the other accessories this year

Let us know how they do in the rain,,, Im assuming your compartments were already dry, wondering if they will stay that way with the upgrade (im assuming they will or maybe even will improve the situation).

kent – yes, my compartments were already dry. now, they not only look better, but operate a whole hellva lot smoother and quieter. (once they are adjusted correctly) i am sure they should stay dry. i will let you know. no more pushing down on the lid to open/close the latch arm either. the southco latch arm/shaft actually goes down and up when the pull ring is opened/closed.

I have had my boat out in about 4 good rain storms and I mean ALL day rain and they do NOT leak at all. For that matter, towing in the rain is just as bad and they have NOT leaked. The only thing about the latches, is that they get VERY hot in the summer heat, If you put your knee on one, you will burn the skin!!

I just broke a perko latch on my 08 puma. I ordered two southcos tonight. So if I understand right they will fit in the old hole from the perko right?? Thanks
