Im going to buy a spare for my 08 Puma with a 250 XS Merc. It came with a Trophy 26P. I just finished the break-in period and afterward had the boat up to 74, but couldnt sustain it. It held at 73.5 with the factory setup. Surface temp was 89; gas tank was about three-quarter full. Im happy with that and see no need to play with the jackplate setting. Now for the spare. Would you recommend another Trophy identical to the one I have, or would you get a three-blade of some sort? In other words, do you think it better to have identical props for consistency or better to have different props for different conditions? Also, I saw an ad on TV that had Kevin Van Dam praising the Fury prop. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
26 Fury or 27 Trophy would be the props I would try. This time of year the 27 Trophy probably wont shine but mine is definitely faster than the 26 but a better prop when it cools off. Judd Lasiter
I have a 25 Tempest that Im running now in the hot weather, and I have a 26 Trophy for the cooler weather. It doesnt make sense to me to have 2 of the same props unless youre sure thats all you want to run. And if that was the case, maybe a cheaper one just to get you back to the ramp or keep you in the tournement in a pinch would be a better idea.
