Spark plug gap

Gots me a a 06 250xs.Service manual says gap should be .038 in.Pulled an existing plug and measured.Less than .038.Electrode has a little taper to it(NGKIZFR6J).New plugs are about same gap as ones in motor.Thanks in advance…….Jeff

Reading BBCs forum on the mercury HP motors, I beleive they are now recommeneding a gap of .044 for these motors check with Don Weed at European Marine 864-421-0444 he seems to be the Mercury Guru!!! He is a wealth of knowledge and can usually always get you going in the right direction…
