speed question

just bought a 2008 p2 with 200 opti. just got it out of breakin stage. wot hit 69 with 5300 rpms . may not have had it fully trimmed. still getting used to the boat. running a 26p trophy prop. will it get better with this prop as it breaks in or should i change props and try to hit higher rpms . motor is appx 1 1/2 inches above even plates on the jack. thanks for any help or info

Get used to the boat before changing props. A small amount of trim will greatly affect the rpms, so get use to the drive before you change anything. D.

We usually prefer a 25 Trophy on that application. Some like a 24 Fury also, though the Trophy would usually be our choice. We think trying a 25 would be worth your time, and you may gain some on the top with a smaller pitch also as well as a touch of fuel mileage. Though some run up to a 27 Tempest on these and that is their choice. BCB

Agreed, those numbers do not sound too bad. If youre not in the upper band of your rpm range, more seat time with the present set up may be the ticket. You didnt say how you were running…full fuel tanks/ gear/ etc…probably couple more mph is achievable with your present set up. I would follow BCBs advice and try a 25 Trophy or a 24 Fury, if your numbers do not improve after a few more hours of seat time.James

I have the same boat as you and those rpms and speed dont seem correct from what I have seen? At 69mph GPS you should be closer to 5500 rpms I would think. I am running the 26 trophy as well and I am on the limiter in the summer with the prop. I dont personally see how you could drop down to a 25 on it and be off the limiter. Also drop you jackplate down about 1/2 inch and see what it does. I have mine raised up about an inch from level plates and it seems to run best there so far.

I missed that the plate is 1.5 over level. I would say as stated above. Drop your plate to 1 over level and see how it performs. At 1.5 over level, there is too much hull in the water.James

I have the exact same boat with a 24p fury. It tops out at 74 mph. Several cat owners out here including pro staffers are running furys. No matter what cat you own find the right FURY prop and you wont be disappointed. Its not just hype its simply the most superior prop on the market bar none basscat24

Can you post your setup that you are using to get 74 mph? Also what load do you carry at that speed?

I was hitting the limiter with the 25 Trophy and I swaped to a 27. I am not hitting the rev limiter anymore and it will run 75.4 on the GPS, but you will loose some hole shot.
