Hi Everyone,I am a BCB ProStaffer from Toronto, Canada. I run a 2011 PUMA FTD with a Merc 250 Pro XS. This past weekend I fished a tourney up here with my business partner, thought I would share the speeds we hit & stories.Ive only had the 2011 PUMA FTD for a few months now….I am still working through the “right” setup. I havent had much time to get it fine-tuned yet, but it will get there (probably right before it is sold to the next person). So we fished a lake that Craig (my partner) is far more familiar with than I am. So he took the wheel during blast off. Craig is also a BCB owner. He runs a Cougar with a Merc 225, so he is familiar with the brand! We had boat number 9; in front of us was a good mix of bass boats from other manufacturers. After we passed through a no wake zone, Craig hammered down and took off. Within a minute or so, we passed a Z21 with the same motor I run and a Skeeter 20i. Craig is doing about 72MPH as we passed a few other rigs. At this point we moved into 3rd place and have a Nitro Z9 to catch up to. With very little effort, we hit 75MPH and got by the Nitro. We launched at 7AM and we were fishing by 706AM. Our first run was roughly 8 miles.Later on that day, we had a friend who couldn’t get his motor to go. He was having battery issues so we transported his fish and him back to the weigh-in. This time I was driving. The conditions weren’t as favorable as earlier in the day. I was headed back under high winds, rain, thunder and now an extra body. Even though with the rough water and the extra weight I was able to drive at 70-72mph comfortably. After the tourney was over, Craig took the PUMA out on his own. The weather was great, flat calm. With full tournament load, roughly 33gallons of fuel remaining he was able to hit 78.1MPH. Trim was at roughly 68, rpm just shy of 6000.The PUMA FTD is simply amazing! The speed is great, but the handling & comfort at those speeds is what differentiates BASS CAT BOATS! I am simply blown away. If the boat handles this great and it isn’t even fine-tuned, I can’t wait to see what it is like then.Great work BASS CAT!Does anyone have any advice for trim setup and rpm range for best results? By the way, I am running a 26P Fury SS Prop with a 8” R & R Manual Jack Plate and no plugs. Last edited by eugeneghounarides on August 8th, 2011, 6:24 pm, edited 1 time in total.
